It is quite an impressive sight that awaits pedestrians in Fuerth's Gebhardtstraße. In the middle of the city center, a highly modern new office building is being constructed by the company iba on what is currently Fuerth's largest commercial construction site. Inside the building, an innovative and self-developed lighting and ventilation system manufactured in the Dambach workshops of the Lebenshilfe Fuerth will ensure the right working atmosphere. "We have various classic orders at Lebenshilfe, so this kind of complex and demanding work is a good example of what we can achieve here," says Fürth's Mayor Dr. Thomas Jung, who is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lebenshilfe. In total, the Dambacher Werkstätten are producing around 700 ceiling profiles for the Fuerth-based company. In addition to soldering and drilling the workpieces, the tasks also include fastening and wiring the LED lights. "To simplify and standardize this work, we developed our own tools and a testing device. We are very pleased that we are allowed to build the systems," reports Group Leader Wolfgang Frisch. Horst Anhaus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of iba AG and "world-class inventor", as Lord Mayor Jung said, was also impressed: "What is being done here has definitely aroused my curiosity. I will continue to test the limits because I know that something good always comes out of it," he says.

Fuerth-based iba AG: Close ties to the city

As Anhaus, who founded iba AG together with his wife Marta exactly 40 years ago, has close ties to the city of Fuerth, it was no question for him to have his own design manufactured locally. "We wanted everything to be controllable, so that colleagues could set the light intensity from candlelight to cold white completely individually and nobody could complain about a draught in the ventilation. What we needed for this is not available on the market - but that shouldn't be an excuse for us," he says. Around one kilometer of lamps had already been manufactured exclusively for iba for the office building at Gebhardtstraße 10, and the new building will take this to the next level. "In terms of length, the ceiling panels will circle the Fuerth stadium twice," jokes Anhaus. After completion in the workshops, the profile only needs to be hung in the ceiling. To ensure that nothing stands in the way of the move into the new building, which is planned for this year, everything will be completed on time in the Dambach workshops. "We are very pleased about the reciprocal trust, because having a variety of tasks is particularly valuable for us. In the past, we have also manufactured airbags for VW, which shows what we are capable of. That's why we are always happy to have imitators of Mr. Anhaus," says Jung.
